Heritage Crockery and Cutlery - Dalugama, Mudiyansegewatta, Eldeniya

Metal plate used by me, my younger sister and brother.
Kids were not trusted with ceramic plates.

Another metal plate from our childhood days.
Often our grandmother, served us rice from this plate
and fed individual mouths with her hand.

Tea jug.  My mother and grandmother made tea for the family
in this.

Our metal plate with metal tea cup that were used by me
my younger sister and brother

A serving plate.
Maliban biscuits were served to guests in this.
We were given remainder biscuits only after visitors had left.

A serving plate with it's accompanying side plate
Cream crackers were served on the main plate
Kraft cheese was served on the side plate when
we had visitors.
Also in the picture are cutlery.

A dining plate.  Adults used them
We were allowed to use them only after we were about
twelve years old

A side dish.  Heavily used and one can see the extent
of it's use.  China made in Great Britian

A treasure - tea cup used to serve visitors at our home
I managed to salvage this.

Dining plate, side dish and cutlery
My grandparents, parents and we have used them
extensively in Dalugama and Eldeniya homes

Three curry dishes

My paternal grandmother's Bulath Wan Gedi. This was a small, deep pestle,
and a tiny Mol gaha, a mortar used to break up areca nuts for Bulath.

This is a copper pot used to store rice in my maternal grandparents home.
